Why Fiber and How Much Fiber We Need?
Don’t forget to include fiber rich foods in your diet!
Today I’m sharing nutritional tip about importance of something we often forget to include in our diet. Usually people focus just on main three nutrients (carbs, protein, fat), but in order to maintain healthy body we also need to consume everything else (fibre, vitamins, minerals…).
Why we need fiber in our diet?
Consuming fiber will slow down the rate of food digestion, and thanks to that your energy will remain stable. If you don’t understand what that means, it will help you with your weight management and you will feel full longer.
Another good thing when it comes to fiber is that it can help you reduce constipation.
How much fiber we need in our diet?
According to studies we need about 14 grams of fiber per 1000 calories. On average that comes to about 38 grams of fiber per day for man and about 14 grams of fiber per day for women.
How to fix lack of fiber?
- Change your habits and start your day with meal which is including minimum 5 grams of fiber.
- Drink more water to help fiber move through the digestive tract.
- Eat whole grains.
- Eat all sorts of beans.
- Eat your vegetables and fruits with skin on it.
This should be a great start in order to fix your lack of fiber issue.
