I know many of you don’t think you would be able to start your day with early morning workout because you are just not able to do anything before you take shower, eat, drink coffee, read morning newspaper or you do something else that became a habit over the years. I know how you feel because I was just like you…
Recently (about 2 months ago) I came up with idea that I would give it a shot and do something every Monday, Wednesday and Friday morning at 7 AM. That something I was thinking about is HIIT workout (high intensity interval training). I was sure that 15 minutes of early morning HIIT workout would give me a boost that would energize me for the rest of my day, but guess what… On my first day I thought I was going to die for sure!
It didn’t take me long to get used to this morning workout routine, and now I’m even thinking about doing something every single day because feeling you get from this is just great. 15 minutes is not much time to spend, but believe me it makes a difference.
OK, so let us now get back to our Medicine Ball Slams…
Today I woke up at 6:45 AM, I took a drink of water, got my clothes on, filled my bottle with water… and then I realized “it is Monday”, which means it is medicine ball day… “DAMN it is cold outside” is next thing I said, but somehow I overcame that, took my 10 kg medicine ball and went out.
Playground was my next station, which is located just 1 minute walk away from my building and I was first one there.
First thing I did was a short warm-up, then some stretching and I was ready to do some work. I got my phone out, set interval timer to 20 rounds with 30 seconds work and 15 seconds rest between rounds.
START! …after pressing that button magic started, or should I say NIGHTMARE. No, I’m just kidding. It might feel so at the beginning, specially since it is early and cold outside, but after few rounds you get on fire and you just push yourself more and more.
Once you get it done all you feel is AWESOMENESS!
In case you are already a person who is working out in morning all I can say is “GREAT”, but in case you don’t work-out in morning, just give it a shot, try incorporating this into your daily schedule and you will see how awesome it can be when you start your morning with blood flow pumping.
HIIT workout routine exercises I did today:
- Medicine ball slams (10 kg)
- Work for 30 seconds.
- Take 15 seconds rest.
- Repeat 20 times (20 cycles).
